Confused about sizing

Each pattern tells you what dress sizes that it covers. If you were a uk size 14 then you buy the pattern that covers that range of sizes. You then cut the tissue paper pattern to your exact size.

Hi, what are these approx in UK current sizes?

Roughly between 18, and 32. US measurements are about two sizes bigger than UK. Hope this helps.

This is a very simple pattern suitable for a beginner. Yes it tells you on the back how much material you need and what type is suitable. I suggest cotton material or similar for a first try. You are also told any other materials you need such us buttons, zip, bias binding etc. The instruction sheet inside tells you exactly what to do including how to lay out the material on the pattern. The one thing to note is that the pattern pieces are printed with all the sizes on them so you need to cut out the size you need. If in doubt choose a larger size or trace your size (with helpful markings for darts and matching marks) - I used baking paper! Good luck!
