JessEm 03004 Mast-R-Top Phenolic Router Table Top for Rout-R-Lift

Love its quality and versatility, but a bit over-priced.

I have been using a rockler table for years and although very good I ended up buying the whole Jess-em system and I love the ease and accuracy of it all, yes it is expensive but if you are a serious hobbyist (like I am)and can afford it, it is well worth it

I paid the full retail price for an item that was damaged and itwas obvious that the item had been previously unwrapped. Thetable had been damaged in two places. One of the marks hadbeen repainted; but poorly. Something had caused the dimensionof he item to change, so things did not fit properly. I hopeto never buy anything from Amazon again.

The top is great, and the material is high quality, but what they fail to mention in the description is that it is not necessarily square. Mine was warped, and a call to JessEm revealed that it is not uncommon to have to shim it to get it straight. They offered to exchange it, but then again, they also offered to send me shims for the fence which was also off of square, and they never did that.

Let me begin by saying that this is a five-star product for many or most people. The other reviews are all correct when they say that all products in the Jessem family are beautiful pieces of work. In particular, the Mast-R-Lift Excel (table with lift) that I purchased is wonderful to look at, and the machinery is accurately built and works perfectly.I rate this product with just three stars because the table has a flaw that has proved devastating to me. I did not use the Jessem stand. I built my own custom table, complete with drawers, tool storage, et cetera. But when I dropped the table in place, I discovered to my horror that it wasn't flat! A straightedge rocked a good sixteenth of an inch in several directions, sometimes even more.I contacted their tech support and they told me that the table top is actually flexible (which I verified... it bends under pressure!) And only by good luck will it be flat out of the box. In order to flatten the table top, it must be securely fastened to a rigid structure, such as their stand. Furthermore, they do not sell any sort of accessory kit for straightening the table. I was on my own to deal with the problem!I picked up some tough angle iron from my local hardware store. Unfortunately, none of the angle iron was quite straight. So I ended up constructing a weird arrangement of shims and adjusting bolts, pushing up on the table in some places and pulling down on it in others. By placing a straightedge on the table and carefully adjusting the bolts, I was able to get the table fairly flat. Fairly.So here I sit, grumpy. I invested a lot of time and money building a router table that I thought would serve me well for the rest of my life. And I end up with a table that's not even exactly flat. I'm tempted to just buy their stupid stand and convert my custom stand into a chest of drawers!Thus, be warned. Buy their stand! Or else hope to be lucky enough to get a table that's flat out of the box. Or be prepared to do a LOT of fussing around to make it flat.

These JessEm products are superb quality with fantastic design. I don't know why more people haven't picked up on the Milwaukee 5625-20 3 hp router. It is a beautiful machine with a depth adjustment that can be accessed thru a hole in the router table (from above). When paired with this table and the universal plate you have all the features of the elaborate add on lift mechanisms at a fraction of the combined price.
