The one star rating is based on the fact that I ordered a 2500 watt fryer and upon receipt found the description incorrect. The heating element was clearly inscribed 1.5 KW (1500 watts). To confirm the wattage of the product, I used an amp meter to measure the amperage and found it to be 13 amps @ 115 volts AC - approximately 1500 watts.I returned the product.

WONDERFUL!
Works so much better than the small fryers we had. Takes larger amount of oil, but fries everything so much faster and better than smaller fryer. Purchased 2 of them so that we would have a backup and to use when the family gets together for Christmas(we have my husbands family over on Christmas Eve along with 3 grown boys and their families) and we need to fry large batches of oysters, fries, etc.

Works quite well
After our first use, we're very happy. Gets up to the correct temperature and stays there. Simple and easy. The only complaint is that the metalwork isn't finished off on the edges, and gave me a good slice while setting it up. I've since taken a file to the sharp sides.

This thing is amazing. Works perfectly. It uses 15.6amps per pole 240v per bucket. Total when both plugged in 31.2a per line. I measured 122v at the plug and (122*2)*15.6=3806.4 watts. Both heaters are within a few watts of each other, within the margin of error on my meter. Heats fast, drains fast, faucet is fantastic, does not leak. Boils out clean with ease. Wish it had a timer...Manufacturer read this!!! It needs a timer! I have never used a fryer especially a commercial one that didnt have a timer. Oversight when i ordered this but not the units fault. Well worth the money. total time of use so far is about 180hrs/40hrs. I rarely use the 2nd tank. Has enough power to cook half a basket of fries and only drop 20deg.

Fairly easy to setup. Clean up is a cinch.
Bought this for Thanksgiving weekend. It was great for frying chicken tenderloin for the kids. Less greasy than the old method of frying pan, leaving the meat moist inside and crispy outside. Fairly easy to setup. Clean up is a cinch. Though, it requires more oil than frying pan method. I just recover the oil and re-use the 2nd time.

For the pros
This fryer is the best value I have found. Yes it has its flaws but the proof is in the taste. This is the first low priced fryer I have ever used that gives true restaurant taste, It has no name of the manufacturer, not UL listed as far as I can see, but I disassembled it before use and found the components to be better quality than I expected If this unit continues to function properly I am going to buy another for myself as a spare and a couple as gifts for friends. This unit does not have safety features like many home fryers such as a detachable cord, insulated case or even a locking lid There is no filter either But in a professional setting used by a competent cook it's a real winner. Oh and yes watch for sharp edges.

Not Commercial Quality
This fryer actually works great however there are so many downfalls that warrant the two star review.1. The lid awkwardly sits on top of the fryer. Every commercial fryer I have purchased has a slot for the basket handle to sit comfortably in whereas this fryer the lid rests on top of the handle.2. Owners manual is seriously lacking. It has very brief troubleshooting options and a list of what is included. There are no operational instructions.3. If you're terrible at math like I am make sure to have celcius to Fahrenheit conversion chart handy as it is all in celcius.4. The heating element piece/operational panel is incredibly unstable. There are two bars to rest the basket on when pulling it out but it shakes the whole fryer and if you don't carefully pick up the basket you'll pull the whole piece up.Overall it is an alright fryer for the money but not commercial quality as stated in the description. Make sure to not have kids around if you put it on your kitchen counter.

you'll be fine. Ignore the instructions
Let's start off by saying this thing is VERY clearly made in China (or somewhere with equally cheap workmanship and English comprehension.)That being said, if you know how to cook food via deep frying, you'll be fine. Ignore the instructions, use basic common sense, and an external thermometer for temperature measurement. Fries chicken and potatoes just fine. Might need to be careful when cleaning as the internal thermometer wire looks very fragile.
