Has performed well over the years on tents and tarps
This stuff is hard to find in my local stores during the summer when camping season is in full swing. After experimenting with several other brands and application techniques, I've seen better results with this Kiwi brand and have used it in preparation for our last four camping trips. I've used it on our tents, sun shelter, and even my Kodiak canvas tent. I typically will set up all our tents in the backyard here at home and apply one coat to the exterior. It does give off a smell when applying but it doesn't necessarily "stink" to me. I just leave everything up all day and take it down in the evening to allow the product to "bond" with the material. There is no sticky residue and the fabric is still breathable by the time I'm taking everything down. I usually take a couple of cans with me when we go camping and if the weather is nice on setup day, I'll apply another coat around the windows, doors, and corner seams. When it rains, I've noticed that the water tends to bead up on the fabric rather than soak through it. It's kind of like putting wax on a car. The beads roll off instead of soaking through the fabric. This is also the best way to see if you missed a spot when you see an area without the beads of water. It does have a slight discoloration (yellowing) to lighter areas on the tent fabric but nothing that really bothers me personally. I don't recommend "soaking" the fabric with the spray and apply a light coat evenly across everything. I usually hold the can between 8-10 inches away (try to use when there isn't a lot of wind) and let the spray drift right onto the material.I've had good results with this product on my tents and rain tarps. I've never used this "heavy duty" version on clothing but I do know that Kiwi makes a product specifically for clothing products that you might want to look for if you are only interested in that. I recommend!

Seems to work well with two coats... Time will tell.
Our last camping trip we were caught in an all night downpour where the tent material was completely soaked through, fortunately I had a tarp to cover us otherwise we would have been swimming in our tent.To fix this, I seam sealed the inside of our tent and rainfly, then coated the exterior of our 5x7 2 person tent with 3 cans of this Kiwi heavy duty waterproofer. Reviews of the product said to do light sprays but I didn't have all night (running out of daylight) so I just went to town and got the material fully saturated. I did one coat on the tent itself and 2 on the rainfly. A camping trip this last weekend was an OK test as it drizzled for about an hour overnight... It was no downpour, but the tent definitely stayed dry which is all I cared about. I took some photos of the water beaded up on the tent but can't get them on the site right now, I will update the review later. In summary: After two coats, tent definitely seems water repellent (as do my fingers from overspray). Time will tell if it holds up!

I am more than satisfied by how waterproof these 3 items became
I tried it on two pairs of shoes out of curiosity and a jacket which was loosing its water repelling ability. I am more than satisfied by how waterproof these 3 items became. I cannot say for the long run since it hasn't rained for me to test it. But I did test it under the water faucet multiple times for a couple of days and it doesn't soak even if I let water sit on top of it for a minute.Cons:-Darkens the color a slight shade. I only noticed cause I spot tested on my jacket. It's barely noticeable.-Stiffen the material ever so slighty (slightly less breathable maybe? I couldn't tell)-Strong odor. Even after having sprayed it outside before taking it inside to the bathroom with doors closed and air vents on. I can still smell it throughout my apartment every time I come home and it's been a good of week since the applications.Otherwise, I couldn't have been more happy with the purchase and already sharing it among my family and friends.

All sealed up!
Bought this to water treat our big new tent. We have a lot of money invested in this new tent, so we want it to be cared for nicely. I purchased a two pack thinking I would get all the way through the tent I was sealing, but due to it's size and the fact that I put up on rather heavy to ensure good coverage, I ended up running out of spray before I was finished. I went to the local store to get the rest since I wanted to finish it up that night and didn't have time to wait on another shipment. We have been happy with the job it has done, no leaking the past camping season. Will be interesting to see how it holds up over time.

You will need a minimum of three cans of this to cover an entire 4 person tent with rain fly for just one coating. My tent is a good ten years old and was way over due for good rain proofing. Note I wasn't just doing seams, I sprayed liberally everything that was an outer wall without window screens plus the rain fly. I will upgrade an extra star after this coming trip that is supposed to have a thunderstorm and we come back dry. Can sprayed the product well until the last bit of pressure was emptied out. Recommend wearing gloves and a mask. I applied outdoors and the stuff has a pretty strong odor. Pretty sure my right hand is now water proof.

Yep, I'm Dry
I couldn't beat the price that Amazon offered for this product. Needed to repair some fine pin-point holes in a camping gazebo. I sprayed on the inside, because I could easily reach that area and this did the trick! It is constantly out in the summer and has been through quite a few downpours. I had enough to spray the whole top and some of the top sides of the 10x10 structure and still had half a can left that I gave to my son to spray some new hiking boots. I still have a whole can left. It will be shelf-stable and I will respray my canopy next year, along with whatever else needs a little help repelling water. You can trust the name Kiwi. This stuff works and doesn't leave a mark.
