Ebony Derby Handle Lathe Cut Victorian Cane Wood Walking Stick

I bought this for my father-in-law for our Victorian Christmas at the Cottage. He was using a barrowed cane to complete his Dickensesque look and he was thrilled with this piece. It is great quality! Needless to say he left with his gift and handed the loaner cane back to the owner.

I'm not an experienced cane buyer- I only use a cane when my knee acts up, just for a slight assistance. But after shopping through hundreds to find one that was slim, elegant, and had a little personality for nights when I wanted to be a little dressier I found this one. I have no idea what kind of wood it is; it's very lightweight and stiff. It seems sturdy enough for me but I can't picture a huge man using this because it's so slim.I don't think I'll use this for every day. The handle became uncomfortable with my carpal tunnel after testing it out for a while on errands. But for an evening out or perhaps business I think it would be perfect.Note: It has a rubber tip built in, not a rubber cap, so it can't be cut down easily. Luckily it's the correct height for me. I'm not sure how that tip would be replaced if it ever wears down. It's about a quarter inch long.
