Stellar Commodore Kettle 1.5Ltr with Whistle

We needed a new kettle, and all of the electric ones we saw looked pretty weak. Then I thought 'why not have a stove-top kettle?' We have a NEFF induction hob that has a standard 2kw ring, with a power-boost setting of 3kw output. I boiled 1 litre of cold water in our old electric kettle and it took 2 mins to boil. I then boiled 1 litre of cold water in a cold pan with the lid on (to simulate a hob kettle) and it took 2:45 mins to boil - 45 secs longer. That isn't a lot, so I ordered this Stellar kettle. The 2:45 mins (3kw on the induction hob) is the same as it was in the saucepan. It means an extra £14 a year in the small increase in electricity, but I reckon I'll get that back easily as this kettle should last longer than any electric one. And does it really matter that it takes 45 secs longer to boil? I.5 litre should be enough for most people - we tend to just boil about 800ml for two mugs, or a small pot of tea for two. But you have up to 1.5 LT here.The kettle itself is a beauty, smallish, compact, stylish lines helped by the lack of a lid. I just enjoy looking at it! Nice loud whistle, pours easily, doesn't burn your hands. The handle is perfectly balanced, and it pours very well. The whistle cap doesn't burn your fingers when you take it off after boiling. Easy to fill directly via the spout, which is quite wide. Aesthetically, there is something really nice about putting a kettle on the stove. Just wish I had bought one years ago.

Nice looking kettle. I bought it after my electric kettle died, and planned on using this full time, but missed the convenience of an automatic switch off. The whistle is loud and increases to an earsplitting level if you don't get back to it quickly - which happens if you've nipped upstairs whilst the kettle boils. I have now bought a new electric kettle and will use this as an extra one if I have lots of guests!

Have returned several kettles mainly because of the whistles not working properly. This one has no moving parts , nothing to go wrong and is big enough for two ( or more ) . It will last a long time I am sure and is guaranteed for life. Will update this when we have had it a while.Highly recommended !!!!!!!!I was wrong !! After 7 months the whistle has packed in. I shall try to get a new whistle. Very disappointed!

Looks good and is efficient, BUT . . . . the handle does get very hot, use a cloth to lift it. Also, make sure the vent in the whistle/cap is pointing down or your fingers will catch the steam coming out of it when you remove the whistle.

I love this kettle. I think it is really stylish and I love it's simplicity. This is my second one and the first one we had for many years. However this new one fires the top off across the glass hob top constantly. It just wont stay on and it shoots it off long before it gets a chance to whistle. I'm constantly running full pelt over to it to try and get there before is missiles the top off across the room. shame.

Ideal Kettle for wood burning stove top.Very solid built and good firm handle,safe to handle boiling as no lid for steam to escape through.Nice little whistle too.

Not safe on induction full power as the whistle pops off at alarming speed. It is rather dangerous.

What a superb little kettle. Well made and heats up water very quickly on my induction hob. Would highly recommend it.

Looks great and whistle and handle cool to touch. With no lid excess steam doesn't escape and it's easy to fill and see max level. Expect it to last many years

Looked for ages for a small kettle for our boat, this one is really cool looking and has a great whistle, really happy with my purchase.

Nice looking solid kettle

Purchased this a few months ago and am very pleased with it. The finish is to a high standard and the coating on the handle prevents any heat to the hand even on a full boiling kettle. The whistle is fine and the cap goes on and off easily and equally has protection for the hand from the heat. After some months of regular daily use it still looks as new with no tainting/discolouration on the sides.Good quality kettle at a reasonable price (£39), I recommend this produc.

Excellent kettle. Easy to fill from tap though hard to tell how much water is in kettleBoth spout and handle do not get hot. Good pourer. Stylish design.
