Great for Big Storage & Backup, not for editing.
Good: Ordered this to be used as a Time Machine array for a Late 2013 Mac Pro after a USB 3.0 8-Bay tower from another manufacturer was DOA. All eight 6TB drives (previously initialized) showed up on the desktop right away. OSX was able to stripe them all together as a RAID 0 (figured speed was more important than data recovery as this is a BACKUP). The array has been running non-stop for three days so far without complaint as Time Machine grinds through our 14TB of data for the initial backup.Bad: USB 3.0 has proven to be very unstable for FCP editing - and this array is no exception Luckily it was not intended for this, but we gave it a shot anyway hoping to save some money. We were always waiting on the drives to spin up. We have not seen this problem on our Thunderbolt arrays. Also, it would be nice if the drives could be inserted/removed without having to (un)screw them to/from the carrier trays.Overall, bad for editing, but otherwise makes a great (big) storage or backup array.

bad performance
speed limited to 40mb max even with using genuine USB 3.0 cable, my another USB 3 disk has 100mb consistent speed... bottom disk has stopped working.... had high expectation from this....

it works with Microsoft Storage Spaces
Best thing? Worked the first time. Literally. Took me about a minute to configure Microsoft Windows 8 Storage Spaces. Was interested to see if it would take 8 old hard drives varying from 300 Gb to 1Tb. Pooled all of them into one logical drive with 2-way mirroring. Amazingly simple and useful.Silver looks great. Build quality solid for the price. Very quiet next to my tower pc. USB 3.0 functioning. Very large first time file transfer of video, photos and docs. Seen it spike as fast as about 82MB/s but averaging more like average 50MB/s. which I'm fine with given the age and varying disk capacities, the way I've configured, and the fact this will only be backup storage for me.
