OKAY. First... it does everything they say it will do.....and I highly advise touring their website and looking at the video clips on how to operate it. It's a good product... I am just not sure for the price it was the right one for me... 1/2 the price and I'd probably be fine.I know that I expect a lot our of technology, and it's programmers.IF..IF..I bought it 15 years ago I'd have thought it was great, but I expect a lot more out of software now a days as far as how it interfaces with the user. Don't get me wrong it has some power on the back-end. BUT ..When I can for $80 go buy a program to design home / floor plans with interactive 3-D walk through when I am done, and see the trees in the yard grow... add in furniture, edit colors/ textures, and edit it while in 3-d mode. Add in the mix all the games and cell phones now that have more user friendly touch screens and if you have an I-phone or T mobile's Google Phone (which rox btw) you'll sympathize with what I am talking about. Sadly though it's 2008 and I as a user like a nice user friendly intuitive product with good deal more modern design.Okay It probably would have 4 stars with some STRONG recommendations on how to fix it up...It lost one for the fact it's really over priced for what you get and then they expect you to dish out about $15-20 for more cookbooks (you do get samples from all cookbooks). That last star makes up a long list of what I wish it could do...ONE, I'd like to store more then one pix for a recipe... . IE/ Sugar cookies, different ways to decorate them one example or more per holiday season.TWO, easier way to input Ingredients and their costs and nutritional information. --- while it can be done, it is not intuitive or user friendly.THREE, why can't the program except *.jpegs?? that ridiculous I have to convert all the pix from the internet into *.bmpFOUR, why can't I see the pictures in with the recipes on the view page?? why do I have tab over?? It should be all on one page...and when you print.. it's should be an option to print it with a small thumb-nail pic off to the side.FIVE, when you input a recipe it has is wonderfully designed drop down menu's for inputting c gets you to cups or t gets you teaspoons or ta gets you tablespoons or br get you brown sugar.. and you can add an new ingredient here..BUT it should ask you at this point IF it's a new ingredient do you wish to input the cost / nutritional info now......and that is only a starter list ...I am I using it? ... Darn right I am, I paid $80 bucks for it. Once you have all your personal recipes and input ALL of the ingredients that you and your family use and the nutritional info and cost for them input. It's okay... it's just getting there... I am still not there.I does have a lot I like about it... Menu Planning, cost / menu, grocery lists, intuitive drop downs when inputting recipes, it has cookbooks and you can add more, with in the cookbooks are chapters, and with in that recipes. ..it also has Categories.. where you can pull one recipes from any cook book and add them to Categories that you design.. like Halloween, Turkey Dishes, or Italian Dishes.Still... personally if it was my product, I'd do a face lift. I realize it was probably designed 15 years ago... and again 15 years ago it would have been Great.

Decent software - Version 10 Does Not Import Receipes from Any Other Program
I did not buy the product through Amazon, but I wanted to leave a review. I gave the product a try, as they had a promotion going that made the product "affordable." This is the same review I put on Cnet. I have tried both the Mac and Windows versions of this program. Not worth the money. Earlier versions allowed you to import recipes from another program. Not any more. Version 10 does not have the option (and it isn't clear on their site), and they plan to charge for it later. I have requested a refund. I have over 200 recipes to import. There isn't even an easy way to copy and paste. At this point in time I have yet to hear back from their customer service about my request for a refund. If they don't honor it soon I will going to my credit card company to dispute it. This company is not customer service oriented at all. Also, I don't think the original creator has anything to do with it anymore. The how to videos are all he does, it appears.Pros- captures recipes from recipe sites quite well- comprehensive nutritional database for mapping ingredients to get nutrition for each recipe- nice layout- themes for making recipes look fancyCons- can no longer import recipes from another software package such as Mastercook- no easy way to copy and paste a recipe that it can't capture, must hand enter it line by line.- adding images is a pain (no drag and drop feature like with other programs - must save to computer and then import to program if the program can't capture the recipe on its own)SummaryOverall this is a good program. I prefer one that requires less work. I do like the capture feature - but it would be nice if it could recognize recipes in non-recipe sites. It is a lot of work to enter a recipe manually - there is no easy copy / paste feature. It will match some of the nutritional values but no better than any other program. You still have to go in and check the matching manually to make sure it is accurate. Each program I have tried has its pros and cons. Although the nutritional database in Cook'n is comprehensive, I prefer the ease of adding recipes that I find in other programs. I will give this more of a chance, but I may be using their 200% satisfaction guarantee and getting a refund. I have over 200 recipes in another program, and adding them by hand to Cook'n is not my idea of fun.Updated on Jul 13, 2012Image Update: It does a good job at capturing images for recipes it can auto import into the program.I would give it a higher rating if I could import recipes from my other software and if the copy/paste was not so time consuming.Updated on Jul 13, 2012Reply from Customer Service about copy/paste and importing from another software:We expect to have a third-party import feature in the future, but it would most likely be part of a paid upgrade; the highest priority for our development team right now is the mobile applications. And you can copy and paste an entire recipe into the "Directions" field of the Cook'n recipe file. That way you don't have to go line by line. You won't be able to generate nutritional analysis because the ingredients won't be in the right fields, but it's a fast way to capture the recipe.__Bryce G| DVOTechnical Support SpecialistA paid upgrade to import recipes from another software? The software is already $80 and it is $20 for an app for my Android. I guess they don't want customers looking to transition. Back to LC I go until I can find a product for the Mac that I really like and doesn't break the bank.

It is easy to install
This product is everything that it says and more. It is easy to install, use and update. Prior to purchasing this product, a lot of research was done on similar products. Many products are difficult to use and navigate but not this one. I would highly recommend purchasing this Made in the USA product.

No cook should be without this!
I have since this purchase several years ago gone on to purchase the upgrades and now am hooked. It is a fantastic recipe organizer and I have enjoyed it mostly for creating my own recipes and then modifying them to fit my nutritional needs. It is a great tool to have.

Poor way to do business--Doesn't honor 200% guarantee
The video tutorials are great. The program is average compared to others out there. My biggest peave is that, after trying a number of programs, I found one I liked better. Dan Oaks refunded only my purchase price--NOT THE 200% HE CLAIMS HE WILL DO. He continues to ignore my emails.
