This tool works with Original FR, FR Special and FR EVH models. It will NOT work on Ibanez Edge, FR 1000 or FR Pro Series. DIRECTIONS FOR USE 1 - Block your trem so it can't move (you can use SkyScraper Guitars gauged Trem Wedge Blocks). 2 - Adjust your fine tuners to mid way to allow clearance for the toe of the tool 3 - Tune the guitar to pitch using your favorite tuner 4 - Clamp the tool with the silver tang just behind the string block and the toe of the tool wrapped under the fine tuner plate (see picture). Snug it up. 5 - Loosen the saddle screw for the string you're working on. 6 - Ensure your string is in tune, then fret the string at the 12th fret. If the note is sharp, tighten the Intonation Tool's screw, retune and check again. If the note at the 12th fret is flat, loosen the Intonation Tool's screw to allow the saddle to move forward. Retune and check again. Or must they be loose first** A: This tool was designed to be used under string tension. There is no need to detune in order to intonate with it. You will have to re-tune when you make adjustments, but that's because the string will have changed length. It works much better than the key-type tools. With this, you just put it on the bridge until it’s tight, loosen the saddle screw, and get to work. No need to keep loosening and tightening the string. I was even able to move the saddle screw for the bridge piece back a slot with the string on and at tension (note: I am not saying you should do this, but it illustrates how well this thing works).Would it be a bit nicer if it had a thumb screw for adjustments instead of using a hex key? Save hours, not minutes. In simplest terms; This thing holds the saddle in place, wherever you want it, while the bolt is loose. Move the saddle forward or backward as you pluck the string, until its in the right place.
