He explanation of the roots of English immediately increased my Spanish vocabulary without using rote memory. That alone was with the price of the course. Also, he begins teaching with the verb hacer. As a previously failed language student, this was a revelation that allowed me to understand a great deal and made it possible for me to speak "on the fly" by using the many cognates without memorization. All in all, I've made huge strides that previously eluded me. I highly recommend this course for people that want to learn by listening. Review: logical presentation of material enhances ease of learning - I liked this first tape so much I have now ordered part 2 and part 3 as well. I did buy an English/Spanish dictionary, though, because I like knowing how words are spelled as I am introduced to new vocabulary. (Spelling is not given for most words presented on the tape.) I liked listening to the tapes and listened to each lesson two or three times, picking up more info each time. By the end of this first tape, I am able to speak many sentences in Spanish, but I'm a bit slow thinking them through yet, and find I don't always know enough vocabulary yet to express myself fully. However, during my recent vacation, I was able to get by OK, if somewhat frustrated with myself at times. Most of the people I met knew at least some English, which made things go more smoothly than would otherwise be the case. I will continue with next two tapes and see how it goes. I was able to email it to my kindle address, after looking in the settings on my kindle. Great help to see some of the spellings, and use for self test. It is 80 pages so don’t miss out. Anyway I am using this along with Duolingo to learn Spanish. Most of my errors on Duolingo are spelling, so in many ways I prefer this. I want to speak Spanish not write it. This gets you really able to string phrases together to have meaningful conversations. The best method I have encountered. I cannot believe I threw away money on Rosetta Stone this is far far superior! Get it!
