GROM ISIPD Compatible iPod iPhone 30-pin cable Assembly

I purchased this cable to complete my GROM Bluetooth iPhone charger and adapter kid, for use in a Mazda Tribute 2004. The cable was recommended because it is properly shielded. So far, it seems adequate to the task. It's much longer than I needed, so I had to bind up most of it and tuck it behind the dash; I guess it's better to be too long than too short, and, since it isn't being used to transmit sound, there's no worry about the length causing any signal degradation.My major complaint is that this was the ONLY available compatible iPhone cable from GROM. Unfortunately, it's designed to convert a 9-pin DIN to a 30-pin iPhone connection. Those of us who use iPhone 5 (i.e., a good many) require the 8-pin connection. I realize it's not that much added expense to buy the "30-pin to 8-pin" adapter myself, but, for the money and for the principle of it, it makes things feel a tad jury-rigged on the most visible end of the set-up. I suppose the up side of this is, it lets my friends who are iPhone 4 users charge their phones with the cable just by easily removing the 8-pin adapter cable, which offers more flexibility, not less. I just think the "30-pin to 8-pin" adapter cable should have come WITH this assembly, instead of having to buy it separately.It's a minor complaint. Overall, though, I'm not displeased by the performance of the cable, or of the GROM Bluetooth adapter, itself.

I bought this to connect iPhone to a Scosche FM modulator in my car. Additionally, I use a 30-pin Bluetooth on it to stream from my iPhone 8. However, the wiring must be different because I couldn’t get it to work. The old cable still works, but I wanted a longer cable. Apparently this is not the one.

Once the iPod harness was installed, when testing the operation with the iPod Classic hooked, the audio comes out from the Head Unit in my 2004 BMW Z4 through the GROM BT, however the digital controls in the car do not work with the iPod. You have to operate the iPod directly on it. GROM AUDIO does not alert about the compatibility between Grom BT and the iPod Classic was discontinued in a previous release of the BT firmware.

This works and it the same as the wire I got with the grom 4 years ago. However the photograph is of a newer looking cord and I got the old one. I was a little excited about get a more modern cord but besides the appearance it's perfect. And 5 bucks cheaper than buying it from the website.
