Vijay Verma (Amitabh Bachchan) is an honest inspector who fights crime. He was in love with Seema (Meenakshi Seshadri) but never managed ot propose to her. Seema gets married to his good friend Shekhar (Jackie Shroff). On the other hand, Vijay gets fooled in his duty by Tony, a criminal who dupes him by making use of his twin brother jojo. He later manages ot catch Tony but he runs away from jail. Vijay tries hard to put Tony behind the bars but all his efforts turn futile. In the mean while, Vijay falls in love with Sapna (Amrita Singh) who tries to soothe his temper. Things go really out fo hand when Vijay finds out that Tony has killed Shekhar and Seema. To avenge his arrest, Tony goes on to kill Vijay's brother & his wife. Vijay is totally devastated by the loss of his only brother. Now the only thing on his mind is to put behind the bars for his heinous crime. Will Vijay succeed in his missioin? Watch the movie to find out the climax.

RAMESH SIPPY AFTER GIVING MASSIVE HITS LIKE SHOLAY SHAAN AND SHAKTI WITH AMITABH APPEAR CONFUSED THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE,AND AMITABH LOOKS VERY TIRED.
