Great Little Gadget
This nice little gadget shows current watt / kilowatt usage, as well as projected daily and monthly cost in US currency $$ (unlike Francs like what the picture shows) -which is good, because I live in Wisconsin.Anyways, device seems to be pretty accurate. A few seconds after you turn on a light, stove, air conditioner, etc, the display updates to show the household electric usage. So you get a pretty good idea of how much electricity each item uses based on the change of watts. This device is a very nice reminder to turn off things that you are not using when walking past it or leaving for the day. I know now that I should expect to see about 200 watts when leaving the house from basic things plugged in (cable box, router, refrigerator, clocks, etc)… So if I’m leaving and it displays higher than that, I remember to turn off a ceiling fan in a bedroom, or dehumidifier in the basement, etc…Overall, installation was pretty easy. Just had to shut off the main power, unscrew the electrical box cover, and put on the clamps and transmitter. Setting up the display was pretty easy as well. Just a few small annoyances, but everything was clearly explained in the instructions.I have already been saving money on my electric bill ($10 - $20 per month), so I am pretty confident this will eventually pay for itself.A few things that I don’t like or could be improved:1) You can enter ‘On Peak’ and ‘Off Peak’ energy costs and hours, however, you can’t specify certain days of the week. Weekends are ‘Off Peak’ on my energy plan, but there is no way for me to set that.2) The display needs to be plugged in, so you can’t walk around with it to see how much energy changes as you turn things on or off.3) It would be nice if there was a button to turn on a backlight display so you could see it in the dark.Overall, I really like this thing… because I like things that save me money!

Seems to work good. update: works great.
Seems to work o.k. I have not had a chance to determine its accuracy. I will when the weather improves. I like to see my energy consumption at any given moment. And i can see it coming in handy when leaving for a few days so I can make sure there is not anything consuming energy that shouldn't be. Its always reading higher than I anticipate. I'm assuming its right. I just had never added up all the miniscule loads. Another reason I got this because a few weeks ago I discovered the water pump for the barn was running and not able to pump water so it was constantly running trying to pump= plugged point I assume. Its in 10 ft deep pit. I was lucky to catch it, there was no wind and I could barely here it. My point is if something like that happened again I wouldn't need luck I can see that something is sucking energy and then investigate. Likely starting by checking 1 circuit at a time to deduce which circuit the drain is on. Nice helpful product. Update: the product its very accurate. I tested it out and its almost right on. I did have to adjust my voltage in the settings up to 125, since my voltage tests at 124. I believe the default value was 115.

excellent product
Current Cost EnviR Wireless Home Energy Savings Monitor w/Transmitter I rarely leave comments, but this product only has 5 reviews currently and I thought it deserved another positive review.I purchased the Current Cost EnviR with wireless transmitter. One of the supplied D batteries turned out to be defective...no big deal. Unfortunately I forgot to order the optional data cable ($12 w/ $8 shipping from their suggested vendor), or more expensive "internet bridge". I want to upload my historic energy usage to my PC, so I ordered the cable once the device was up and running. It has only been running for a few hours, but I've been able to figure out the power usage for a lot of my devices. Since I didn't purchase any of the optional individual appliance monitoring plugs, it took a bit of patience and effort to record usage for multiple devices/appliances. The bottom line is that I have already discovered some "energy vampires" and have turned them off.As advised in the manuals and on their website, you may wish to hire an electrician to install the wireless transmitter if you aren't confident you won't electrocute yourself. I installed it myself and was pleased that I survived!

Fun and educational
We purchased this to get a better handle on our energy usage. We are very happy with the purchase. Let me start this review by saying we are both electrical engineers.Installation was quick and easy. If you are not comfortable around electricity, I would highly recommend getting the mains shut off for the installation of the CTs. That is recommended in the literature, but we skipped as our jobs have us working with this level voltages regularly.Setup took us a couple of tries, but was not overly difficult.I've had no signal problems, and my monitor is quite far from the CT unit. Very accurate results. We've used the information to make decisions about which appliances to replace. It has been a great learning experience.

Good but could be better
Pros - This unit was easy to install and setup. Works great for checking your power usage instantaneous.Cons - The unit does not come with a usb cable and one is not available from the manufacturer. Stored data is not retained in the unit if the power is removed. Although it can store large amounts of data you can not export it to a computer and it's unlikely you can go for extended time with no power loss, at which time the data is lost.I would buy this type device again as it has been a useful tool for me to track power savings measures but I would consider lower cost devices since there is limited useful data acquisition from this unit.
